LG Dishwasher error code FE
FE
What it means
Overfill - the water supply exceeds the normal amount.
Likely causes
- Too much water is being supplied to the tub
- Detergent type and amount can contribute, according to LG
- The unit may not be level
Safety first: switch the appliance off and unplug it (or turn it off at the circuit breaker) before you check anything. If water is involved, close the water supply valve too. Never open panels or touch internal wiring. Anything that involves gas lines, refrigerant or sealed systems, or mains-voltage wiring is a job for a professional - not a home fix.
Safe first checks
- Switch the dishwasher off and close the water supply valve
- Check the detergent type and amount you are using
- Make sure the unit is level
When to call a pro
LG notes that a code that returns immediately after a fix - particularly AE/E1 or repeated FE - is a clear signal the unit needs a closer look from a technician.
Repair or replace?
Try the safe checks first - many codes clear with a clean filter, a straight hose or a balanced load, and those cost nothing. If the code comes back, a service call typically costs $50-$150 for the visit and diagnosis (Angi puts an average service call at $50-$100; Sears lists a $90-$150 diagnostic fee). Get the full repair quote before you decide. If the machine is old and the quote is a large part of the price of a new one, replacing usually makes more sense than repairing.
