Samsung Washer error code 4C
4C
Also shown as: 4E, E1
What it means
Water is not supplied to the washer.
Likely causes
- The water taps are closed or partly closed
- The water hoses are clogged or kinked
- The water taps or hoses are frozen
- The water pressure is too low
- The hot and cold water taps are connected the wrong way round
- The mesh (inlet) filter is clogged
Safety first: switch the appliance off and unplug it (or turn it off at the circuit breaker) before you check anything. If water is involved, close the water supply valve too. Never open panels or touch internal wiring. Anything that involves gas lines, refrigerant or sealed systems, or mains-voltage wiring is a job for a professional - not a home fix.
Safe first checks
- Make sure both water taps are fully open
- Check the hoses are not kinked or clogged
- Clean the mesh filter at the water inlet
- Make sure the cold tap connects to the cold inlet and the hot tap to the hot inlet
- Wait 3 minutes before retrying - Samsung notes the buttons stay disabled for 3 minutes after this code appears
When to call a pro
If the code keeps appearing after these checks, contact a Samsung service center.
Repair or replace?
Try the safe checks first - many codes clear with a clean filter, a straight hose or a balanced load, and those cost nothing. If the code comes back, a service call typically costs $50-$150 for the visit and diagnosis (Angi puts an average service call at $50-$100; Sears lists a $90-$150 diagnostic fee). Get the full repair quote before you decide. If the machine is old and the quote is a large part of the price of a new one, replacing usually makes more sense than repairing.
