LG Washer error code OE
OE
What it means
Outlet (drain) error - there is a drainage issue and the washer is struggling to drain water.
Likely causes
- The outlet (drain) hose may be clogged
- The outlet hose may be pressed or kinked
- The outlet hose may be frozen
- The drain hose was not installed correctly
Safety first: switch the appliance off and unplug it (or turn it off at the circuit breaker) before you check anything. If water is involved, close the water supply valve too. Never open panels or touch internal wiring. Anything that involves gas lines, refrigerant or sealed systems, or mains-voltage wiring is a job for a professional - not a home fix.
Safe first checks
- Straighten the drain hose and make sure it is not kinked, bent or positioned too high, and that the washer is on a firm, even surface
- Disconnect the drain hose and remove any foreign objects clogging it, using tweezers
- If the hose is frozen, thaw it and the inside of the washer with warm water (50 to 60 degrees C) poured into the tub, then run a Spin cycle
When to call a pro
If the washer still will not drain after these steps, reach out to an LG service center.
Repair or replace?
Try the safe checks first - many codes clear with a clean filter, a straight hose or a balanced load, and those cost nothing. If the code comes back, a service call typically costs $50-$150 for the visit and diagnosis (Angi puts an average service call at $50-$100; Sears lists a $90-$150 diagnostic fee). Get the full repair quote before you decide. If the machine is old and the quote is a large part of the price of a new one, replacing usually makes more sense than repairing.
