LG Washer error code UE
UE
What it means
Unbalance error - laundry has bunched up on one side of the tub, or the washer is not level.
Likely causes
- Laundry bunched up on one side of the tub
- The washer is not level
- Large items (such as a blanket) washed on the Cotton/Normal cycle
- Washing just one laundry net, or very small or tangled loads
Safety first: switch the appliance off and unplug it (or turn it off at the circuit breaker) before you check anything. If water is involved, close the water supply valve too. Never open panels or touch internal wiring. Anything that involves gas lines, refrigerant or sealed systems, or mains-voltage wiring is a job for a professional - not a home fix.
Safe first checks
- Spread the laundry out evenly and resume the cycle; remove some items if the load is overloaded
- Wash blankets and large items one at a time, using the Blanket/Duvet or Bedding cycle
- For small loads, add some more items and spread them evenly
- Make sure the washer is level, on a firm, even floor
- To test the machine, run a spin cycle with an empty tub - if there is no noise, the machine is running without a problem
When to call a pro
If the issue persists after balancing the load and levelling the washer, contact an LG service center.
Repair or replace?
Try the safe checks first - many codes clear with a clean filter, a straight hose or a balanced load, and those cost nothing. If the code comes back, a service call typically costs $50-$150 for the visit and diagnosis (Angi puts an average service call at $50-$100; Sears lists a $90-$150 diagnostic fee). Get the full repair quote before you decide. If the machine is old and the quote is a large part of the price of a new one, replacing usually makes more sense than repairing.
